The Rules and Regulations

The law and how it effects van drivers

How vans are driven has a significant impact on the reputation of the drivers responsible for that vehicle or indeed, the company that owns them.

In the view of far too many motorists van drivers are the worst drivers on the roads, driving aggressively, parking illegally and unfairly considered to be accident prone. The reality tells a different story, delivery drivers play a vital and increasingly important role in peoples everyday lives and surprisingly for a lot of people van drivers have a good safety record, unfortunately and we believe wrongly, the white van man image still exists.
A recent survey has revealed a surprising amount of van drivers were unaware that the speed limits for their vehicle is different to that of the motorist.

Here at The Courier Club we decided to check out a few rules and regulations regarding Driving Vans.

Employed drivers need to adhere to company rules that they are given, however, it is how these rules are interpreted.
It is all too easy for managers and supervisors to believe that all drivers do what they tell them. It maybe company policy to take regular breaks, not to use mobile phones while driving and not to speed to make up for lost time but do the drivers really believe this is what the company expects of them?
If the message is not given properly drivers may well compete to see who can drive the longest, who can cover the distance fastest firmly believing that by doing this they are helping the company.
It is worth remembering that the Law is in place for all.

Drivers who want to get the job done and keep customers satisfied should never have to end up breaking the law or compromising safety.
